Special guest gave a brief description of the program. CUPE
donation towards program in advance of our Christmas party (December
9th)
Social committee / CUPE 4195 donation of $500 – presented by Debbie
Schreiner (member) – with enough volunteers, we have asked for 3
members to stay at CUPE party from 11p.m to 1a.m

★ Matters arising from the minutes
○ Michelle Hamel reported on CUPE swag, 2 quotes from PA fast print and
NorthStar
■ T-shirts $12 – $24
■ Water bottles, pens, pencils, calendars, notebooks/planners
■ Michelle proposes a budget of up to $10,000 to work with
■ Janice Janzen suggests getting a budget ($10,000) and
emailing members with survey of options, including cost and
photos
G119.03 – **Michelle made a motion to accept a suggested budget

★ Treasurers’ Report
G119.04 – Michelle motion to accept treasurer’s report as presented

★ Communications and Bills
○ CUPE 882 is the inside City workers asking all CUPE locals in
Saskatchewan for a donation to help with their strike funds. Money goes
towards coffee, snacks, topping up CUPE strike pay.
G119.05 – Barry made a motion to donate $2.00 per member,
Isabelle Rowell seconded motion

★ Executive Committee Reports
○ Steward committee – nothing to report
○ Good and Welfare committee – get the date that employee goes on leave,
get in touch with contact reps to forward information
■ Must be an 8 week leave
○ Social committee – CUPE Christmas party December 9, 2023
■ 154 tickets sold, Operation Red Nose
■ Only gift / prizes for those in attendance
■ Starts @ 5
○ OH & S committee – nothing to report
○ Indigenous Committee
■ Report by John Brady McDonald – Indigenous conference
November 16 & 17
● CUPE National support for issues that Indigenous members
face.
● Breaking down barriers on racism, discrimination in the
workforce
● CUPE Manitoba spoke on the change of gov’t and the work
they did to help promote that change.
○ Scholarship committee
■ Shelley will look over and make appropriate changes to the
scholarship applications – it will be ready for first week of December
2023
★ Unfinished business – nothing to cover
★ New business
○ Teacher sanctions – SRPSD may need to temporarily change EA schedule
to cover noon supervision but then will be changed back to the regular
schedule. If there is a full strike, we still go to work. We are not to take on
any additional work / supervision.
○ Leave requests – if your leave request has not been approved within a 48
hour time frame, approach your admin and ask.
○ Contract expires July 2025 – we will start putting together a committee
next year.
★ Nomination of Steward – All others classification
○ By-election will take us to May 2024, then they will need to be elected
○ Nominations – Shelley Stefanowich nominates Vicki Johnson
■ Vicki will let her name stand
■ By acclamation, Vicki Johnson is our new shop steward for Other
Classification
★ Good of the union draw – 2 gift cards
